Rabbi Karyn D. Kedar is an author, poet, spiritual counselor, inspirational speaker and rabbi emerita at Congregation B'nai Jehoshua Beth Elohim in Deerfield, Illinois. She was ordained at Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati in 1985. She is the author of several books, among them Omer: A Counting (2014), Amen: Seeking Presence with Prayer, Poetry, and Mindfulness Practice (2019), and Unfolding: A High Holy Day Companion (2025) from CCAR Press. She is also published in numerous anthologies and has created liturgy, rituals, and ceremonies.
Rabbi Kedar teaches courses and designs retreats on finding meaning and purpose in our busy lives, creating a prayerful and intentional life, spiritual awakening, forgiveness, and intentional leadership. She offers workshops in engagement, vision, and creating the synagogue for the twenty-first century.
She and her husband Ezra are the proud parents of Talia, Moti, Shiri and Ilan and grandparents of Lihi, Maya, Eliyah, Emma, Leo, and Nelly all who live in Israel.
